I feel like it has been such a long time since I’ve done a book tag (or posted anything, actually) so I thought it would be fun to get out of my posting slump by doing the Book Courtship Tag. This tag was created by Leah from Hi I Love Books. Her video will be linked here. So yeah, let’s get started!
Phase 1 – Initial Attraction: A book that you bought because of the cover?
This book is probably one of the prettiest books that I own. It is gorgeous! The colours of the dress and the dress itself steals the whole show. Once I saw it, I just knew that I had to have it. It was also on sale for 5.99 at the time when I bought it, so that helped me decide as well.
Phase 2 – First Impressions: A book that you got because of the summary?
Everything about the summary made me so hyped about this book! Princess Lia doesn’t want to follow through with her arranged marriage, so she and her friend run away to the next town over to start their new lives. Little does she know, two mysterious strangers follow her into town. One being an assassin sent to kill her, and the other being the prince that she was supposed to marry. The thing is, Lia doesn’t know who is who which makes it a bit of a guessing game for the reader.
Phase 3 – Sweet Talk: A book with great writing?
Never have I ever experienced writing like Laini Taylor’s. She creates such a unique world filled with unforgettable characters with her words. With a world like this one, I would expect nothing less than amazing writing to bring everything to life. From what I’ve already read from Laini Taylor, I like what I see.
Phase 4 – First Date: A first book of a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series?
Shadow and Bone was an amazing read for me. I flew through this series within a matter of weeks. I didn’t expect to love the series as much as I do today. I also didn’t expect to be so drawn into the Grisha world. The first book was so action packed and fast paced, I could barely put the book down. With the events that happened at the conclusion of the novel, I absolutely needed to know what would happen next. Also, The Darkling!!!
Phase 5 – Late Night Phone Calls: A book that kept you up all night?
There were so many books for me to choose from for this question because I usually stay up until the early hours just to finish the book I’m reading. I went with Steelheart because it was a book that I have recently finished. Whenever I am extremely invested in a book, I devote most of my hours reading the book until it is finished. This was the case with Steelheart. I had to know what the characters were going through and how the super human abilities came about. I could not put the book down!
Phase 6 – Always on my mind: A book you could not stop thinking about?
Since You’ve Been Gone has recently been a new favourite of mine. I fell in love with the story and all of the characters inbetween the pages. It is such a feel good book that goes over friendship, family, and self confidence. To me, the character was so relatable; I could see myself in Emily’s situation. It has been a few months since I’ve read this book, and I still can’t stop thinking about it!
Phase 7 – Getting Physical: A book which you love the way it feels?
If you have ever gotten the chance to feel this book, then you would know what I mean when I say that this book feels amazing. The cover feels so smooth, soft, and velvety. The first time I held it in my hands, I spent a good minute or so just feeling the cover. That sounds kind of weird the more that I think about it. HAHA
Phase 8 – Meeting the parents: A book which you would recommend to your family and friends?
I feel like this is everyone’s go-to response for this question but in all honesty, how could it not be? I think people of all ages can relate and cherish the story in one way or another. Harry Potter has been such a defining mark in peoples’ lives. I have been around almost as long as it has, actually. This book has everything in it! I just hope that people who haven’t already read the series will pick it up sometime in their lives.
Phase 9 – Thinking about the future: A book or series you know you will re read many times in the future?
I was six years old when I first read this book at school. I remember loving the story back then and I think I’ll still love it in the future. I hope that I could pass this story down to other people and have them love it as well.
Phase 10 – Share the love: Who do you tag?
This is totally up to you if you want to do the book tag or not so it’s alright if you don’t do it. I’d like to tag:
Evie @ justanotherbelle
Nick @ nickvreys
Kira @ fieittyreads
Kacie @ kaciesbookshelf
Quionna @ quireads
Aentee @ readatmidnight
Erika @ errka220
and You! I tag whoever else wants to do this tag.
As always, thanks for reading!
